The Approach to Whole Health for Athletes
1. Setting Goals and Understanding Priorities:
It is very important to understand who you want to be as an athlete and what your priorities in life are. Your lifestyle needs to reflect these.
2. Nutrition and Hydration:
How to fuel and hydrate right as an athlete is challenging. As your training program, weather conditions and your body changes you will discover that nutrition and what you need to optimize your performance never looks the same. Physical stress and life stress create oxidative, acidic and hydrative stress in your body. This stress increases inflammation providing a ripe environment for injury and it delays recovery. My approach to nutrition for athletes is to provide the knowledge on what and when athletes should take in to fuel the body and recover quickly.
Training should give you energy rather than take it away. It is about building consistency day after day to get you toward your goals. It is hard work but is joyful and rewarding. My training program guides you toward your goals in a safe way while you discover the strength of yourself to do all that you can to be the best you can be.
Recovery is a process where you can absorb your hard work. Recovery looks different for everyone. For some it is going down to the river, for others it is gardening. The important thing is that recovery enables you to reduce stress and regenerate energy!
